JULY 26 – History Walk with Todd Bowman
Take a walk through downtown Kitchener’s past, focusing on the theme of social services. Cities past and present have citizens in need of social support: the poor, children and youth, orphans, the sick, elderly and others. Learn about what happened to many of them and where they went at various time periods in Berlin/Kitchener history. Hear stories of those who provided help or were served by Berlin citizens and institutions: from an ex-slave, a librarian, a prolific doctor, a wealthy family, to a matron who died of a broken heart. The walk begins at City Hall at 10:30 and will last an hour to an hour and a half. Parking is free on Sundays in the city hall lot.
